Diving in Cozumel is the most memorable experience you can imagine.  At Aquaworld we cater for beginner divers, certified divers as well as courses for advanced levels.

If you have never tried diving now is the time to start.  What better combination can you ask for – warm Caribbean waters, visibility like you have never seen before, excellent bi-lingual instructors and up to date, good quality dive equipment.

Have you ever wondered what it’s like to breathe underwater?  Well this is what scuba diving allows you to do – you can maintain buoyancy, propel yourself through the coral reefs and most importantly stay underwater for a prolonged period of time.

The Discover Scuba or Resort Course as it’s commonly known is all you need to go diving right away without a full certification.  The class can be completed in two hours and then we will take you out to the open sea.

The class includes a talk by the instructor about the specifics of diving, safety procedures and equipment.  You will then go to the pool to learn the practical side and try out the scuba gear.

Then the time has come – your first discovery dive.  You can dive up to 40ft/12mts with a Resort Certification. 
We will give you a temporary certification card upon completion of your course so if you would like to dive again during your vacation you can do so.

If you have always dreamed about exploring the underwater world, you are ready to complete your Open Water Certification.

Once you complete your Open Water Certification you will be able to dive anywhere in the world.  Although PADI is the leading dive centre in the world, most other dive companies will accept the certification.

Where to start:

The PADI Open Water Course involves three categories.  Theory, confined water training and open water dives.  The course is made up of five modules covering a range of training topics such as safety procedures, removal of equipment in the water and controlling buoyancy.

Here at Aquaworld we offer the following:

• Full four day course (completing the whole certification in Cozumel)
• PADI E-learning course (you complete the theory prior to arrival)
• Cd-Rom Certification (we sent you a Cd-Rom and training materials)
• Referral (you complete the theory and pool training at your local dive shop prior to arrival).

Four Day Course:

This certification takes four days to complete.  It’s important to know that aside from the classroom portion of the course, you will need to read the dive book in your spare time. *  It’s a good idea to purchase the book and read it prior to arrival.

Days one and two will be spent on training.  You will complete the theory work, exam and confined water training with your instructor

Days two and three are spent diving.  You will depart from Aquaworld Cozumel at 11.15am (Monday to Saturday)  and complete all the skills you learnt during the confined water training.

The above schedule depends on each individual student and their learning speed.  Four days may be required or course time may be longer if the student has not read the theory coursework.

Once you have all the theory and pool work completed, you are ready to dive!  Aquaworld will take you through the most exciting part of the course – the diving.

Once you are Open Water Certified, your next step is the Advanced Course.  The Advanced Course can be used as a step towards a career in diving or simply to learn more about the underwater world and dive techniques.

You will complete five specialty dives during the course, three of which you can choose yourself.

The two mandatory dives are Navigation and Deep dive.  Then you can choose your three other elective dives. Night diving and Drift diving is recommended in this area.

Each adventure dive can be used towards the first dive of the corresponding specialty course.

• Must be PADI Open Water Certified (or qualifying certification from another organization)
• Must be 15 years of age (12 years for Junior Advanced Certification)

This course can be completed in three days depending on the elective dives you choose.  (assuming the student hasread the theory part of the course)
